Savings Box

 

Da ich wie Ihr seht ziemlich oft Geld für Kosmetik ausgebe, bleibt am Ende des Monats nicht mehr viel im Portemonnaie übrig. Da nun auch noch Ferien nach London geplant sind (Juhuuuu!!!) und ich dort bestimmt nicht sparsam sein werde, habe ich mir fest vorgenommen ein wenig Geld auf die Seite zu tun. Als ich jedoch nach einem passenden Sparschwein gesucht habe, dass mir optisch auch zusagt, musste ich leider feststellen, dass die Dinger schweineteuer sind und ich wohl mehr Geld ausgeben müsste, als ich effektiv sparen würde. Also wieso nicht selber basteln dachte ich mir. Kleiner positiver Nebeneffekt: mein kleines Spardöschen lässt sich nicht einfach öffnen und ann wieder schliess, d.h. ich kann nicht einfach mal so an das Geld ran :) Und so hab ichs gemacht:

Schritt 1

Mischt den flüssigen Weisskleber mit ein wenig Wasser, um einen Kleister zu erhalten.

Schritt 2

Bepinselt Servietten eurer Wahl mit dem Kleister und stülpt sie über die Öffnung eines alten Gurkenglases. Dies wiederholt ihr mit ca. 4 Schichten. Streicht die einzelnen Lagen immer glatt und achtet darauf, dass keine Luftblasen zwischen ihnen entstehen. Drückt sie am Glasrand fest an.

Schritt 3

Nehmt eine Dekor-Schnur und bindet sie um den Hals des Glases und die Serviettenränder.

Schritt 4

Nachtdem ihr das Ganze über Nacht trocknen lassen habt, könnt ihr nun (vorsichtig) mit einem Cutter einen schmalen Streifen rausschneiden, damit ihr später das Geld reinwerfen könnt.

 As you can tell I spend a lot of money on cosmetics, which means that there is not much money left on the end of the month. Additionally I'm about to go to London (yeaaaahh!) and I'm sure I won't keep a lot of money in my wallet. That's why I decided to save some money. As I was looking for a sweet piggybank I had to realize that they're rediculously expensive and that I would have to spend more money than I could actually save with this stuff. Why not do one by myself, I thought.  A great secondary effect: as I can't open this selfmade savings box, it's impossible for me to just take out money if I want to! And here we go:

Step 1

Mix up an all-purpose glue with a bit of water to get a paste.

Step 2

Take your brush and apply the paste all over a table napkin of your choice and then put it on the opening of an old marmelade jar. Don't forget to flatten the different layers and pay attention not to create air bubbles between them. Press the edges of the napkins against the glass.

Step 3

Take a cord and ty it around the neck of the jar and the napkins.

Step 4

After letting it dry durin a night you can slightly cut out a small  stripe with a cutter, where you will later put through the money.
